Grounding
The grounding system is part of the external lightning protection system, which is intended to conduct lightning currents into the ground and distribute them there. Lightning Protection
Lightning protection provides protection against lightning strikes that occur directly on the facility to be protected. The functions of lightning protection are: capturing direct strikes with a capture device; safely conducting the lightning current to the ground with a discharge device; distributing the lightning current in the ground via a grounding system.

Surge Protection
Surge protection is the protection of electrical and electronic devices against excessively high electrical voltage. Surge protection is part of the DIN lightning protection standard VDE 0185. The installation of a lightning and surge protection system for electrical installations represents the current state of technology and is also a required measure in VdS guidelines. One of the main causes of critical surges is lightning strikes in power and signal lines and in their vicinity.
